Dear Folks,
Hiyee! Back again to the world of the bloggers.
Imagine this, it is like the 23rd December and we have just 8 more days to 2011. 2010 is such a fast year for me personally.....dying to get over it.
Malaysia in the Final AFF Suzuki Cup (Football)
Yes! our boyz have definitely shown that we mean business. Hopefully they can pull an upset with Indonesia which earlier defeated 1 - 5. If we win this one, yes.....we are on the roll to gain back that Glory Years of Malaysian Football
Tragedy
Condolence to the families who lost their love ones in one of the most tragic accident. One thing for sure this accident is not a first or one of its kind. It did happened before, but again from this sad episdoe, it is best to get the best expert to study from all aspects before making the final judgement on who is the part at fault.
Talk about the 21st Century, it is not about who is at fault, but also we have to consider how best we can avoid or prevent it from happen again.
Skins suck again (American Football Team)
Yes, they really suck. Despite the presence of a new coach and QB, but they are not there yet. Looks like another losing season for the Skins. Good grief!
VT HOKIES (College Football)
yes, they did it and they are in the Orange Bowl, playing against Stanford. Hail to the Hokies!

December already....Goodness Gracious!!
Hey Folks,
Hope all is well and yes here we are in the month of December and the final month of 2010. Frankly it has been a fast ride.... 2010 really rolls faster than a speeding bullet!
MAHA 2010:
This exhibition is really a pretty good and informative event. It stands for Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture, and Agrotourism show. I took my family last Sunday and yes didn't managed to complete the whole sightseeing of the expo. On a good note, it is the chance for the public to experience and understand about the importance of agriculture, horticulture (art of gardening) and agrotourism (tourism relating to agriculture). Both son and wifey had fun playing with the wabbits! Besides that there were livestsock exhibition, farming machinery, fruits.
On a not so good note, the traffic and parking management is horrendous! Imagine, it took me 1.5 hour to get to the entrance and at that time i was just like 1km away from it. Not to mention, the parking management is not able to get the flow of traffic under control. Imagine again, when going back from MAHA, it took about 1 hour from the parking lot to drive to the exit. No doubt the MAHA 2010 is a tremendous success for the country, but come on traffic and parking management needs to be looked at seriously. The organizers are aware of the huge turnout, but there must be some sort of plans in order to ensure that the traffic flow and parking coordination is under control.
Washington Redskins/Virginia Tech Hokies:
My favorite NFL team, the Washington Redskins, oh man despite the new coach and quarterback, they are not heading toward the winning season as everybody really want them to. It will only be a big miracle for them them to clinch the playoff, but that really depend on the outside forces.
My favorite college football team which is of course my alma mater, VT Hokies, they are winning....they beat the Virginia Cavaliers and last game is Florida State... HOpe they beat'em good! Until today, still can't imagine how the Hokies can lose to JMU! Imagine JMU is a like a 'little league'.....oh well time to move on.... Go Hokies!!!

Monday, Monday...
Hey Folks,
Back to the world of Blog.....yup as usual the world is just full of wonders and unexpectations.... It is just a matter of being prepared or just ready for the unexpected.
Yes, last week was there for work purposes and my first trip to Australia, Sydney. Weather was fine, but it got warm in the afternoon. Got the chance to experience the thunderstorm over there, but nothing beats the storm in Malaysia! Took some lovely pics of sights of Sydney. Of course Sydney is known for one of its famous landmarks, the Opera House. One thing for sure, reaching Australia is one of an important milestones in this beautiful life.
Suu Kyi:

Unbeliveable, but yes she is finally out of imprisonment. She was imprison for many many years and hopefully this is it. Of course one can't help but wonder is the Myanmar Government is hiding anything or is there still some 'hidden agenda'. Only time will tell.
Al Fatihah to Shamrin:

Hard to believe, but one of Malaysia's leading vocalist of a rock group called Fotograf is gone. Shamrin is his name and this talented singer have left us for good. If it was not for my wife's liking for Shamrin and his band (Fotograf), I wouldn't even care about it. Got to admit, he was really a talented singer and had a strong vocal. I thought looking at the video footage at Planet Hollywood via Youtube, he was really a versatile singer. Can sing both rock sentimental and hard rocking tunes. He is the 'Jon Bon Jovi' of Malaysia. May Allah blessed his soul.
Washington Redskins and VT Hokies (American Football/College Football):
Oh man, they are struggling despite the presence of a talented quarterback (Donovan McKnabb) and players. Hope they can aim for the playoffs. Monday nite (which is Tuesday morning), Malaysia Time, they will be playing against Philadelphia Eagles.
As for the Hokies, they are winning, but still can't accept the fact they lost to JMU! Good grief!

What a tragedy!
Hi Folks,
It seems again the story still makes the headline yesterday and that was the terrible accident involving an express bus and 5 vehicles. Fourteen lives were lost. Our hearts and condolence goes to the families who lost their loves ones. We still don't get it.
Can't blame anybody, but all of us do share a responsibility of using the road, but unfortunately there are always one of those 'few' who just seems to fancy the road like their own.
Personally, the Government have made many campaigns and even enforcements on road safety, but road accidents in this country is a common phenomenon on a sad note.
Think again folks, if you are driving, just remember u are handling a 'weapon' called a car. Not finger pointing, but again think about it. Our car is like a weapon that needs to be controlled properly and safely.

Commonwealth Games!
Hi Folks,
Hari Raya Aidlilfitri is coming close to end very soon. Imagine that this year we are flying like a roller coaster up and down fast and furious all the way!
Congrats to India for the spectacular opening of the Commonwealth Games. Despite the criticism and challenges in the beginning at least they made a good start at the official opening.
Tun Dr Mahathir:
Tun is in Melbourne Hospital due to chest infection. Our prayers for his quick recovery. Amazingly, he is 85 years old and still going strong. Still a legend and always be.

Happy Malaysia Day! Oh by the way, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Maaf Zahir Batin to all fellow Muslims out there.

It is good to recognise another important day like this besides Merdeka. This serves as a reminder for us how our forefathers or great leaders have went great pain and sacrifice in peaceful ways to get Malaysia to where it is today.
Still in the mids of holiday.... So far it has been good. Spent some raya time in Miri... Now back home.

Happy B-lated Birthday Malaysia!
Hi Folks,
Time for that bloggy session.
Fifty Third Birthday:
Yesterday was Malaysia's 53rd buzzday. Amazing, how are country has developed from a rural agricultural country to a develop country. Of course, target is by 2020, Malaysia to be come a fully develop or say advance country just like the USA, UK, Japan to name a few. This year is also a significant first in history because it will be the first time that 'Malaysia Day' is celebrated and at the same time a national holiday. Malaysia Day falls on the 16th September. It is the day back in 1963, when Malaya officially became Malaysia after both Sabah and Sarawak joined the federation. A lil' bit of history there, some say!
Ramadan:
So far this year Ramadan is flying fast like speeding bullet. For majority of Muslims, Ramadan is a time or holy month (in the Islamic Calendar) to get even more closer to Allah and hope that every prayer we seek and that the divine intervention will take place. Like they say, Allah may help in strange and mysterious ways.

Burning Love!
Hey Folks,
Back to the world of blog, haven't write on this for a long time sorry, my apologies for the delay. Hope to make it up to you.
Ramadan:
Yes, it is the second day of Ramadan. So far okay, not feeling weak but of course when it is the fasting month one must take things easy and don't get stressed out. It is the most holiest month in the Islamic Calendar so therefore it is time for Muslims to repent or make it up over the past mistakes or sins that he or she may committed in the past. The beauty of Islam is that one can simply pray and beg for forgiveness to the almighty Allah direct at any time.
What is also important that as a Muslim, it is a mandatory duty to uphold and follow the 5 pillars of Islam;
1. shahadah ("I profess that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the messenger of God.")
2. salah (prayers 5 times a day)
3. zakat (alms giving to the poor and needy)
4. fasting in the month of Ramadan
5. haji (pilgrimage to Mecca if he or she can afford)
Upik Abu Dan Laura:
I have to confess, man thanks to my wife I've been following this Indonesian drama/comedy series. The main star in this drama is Cinta Laura (as Laura) and Alyssa Soebandono (as Opie). It is about 2 different characters; Laura who is from a rich family, while Opie is from a poor family. As the story goes, both of these characters clash against each other, but w
hat is weird is that eventually both became good friends. Talk about life! In general, it is a fun and sometime serious like drama with a mix of humour to lighten things up. Plus with the characters of Irwansyah (as Rangga) and Bobby Joseph (as Tristan) also added some excitement into these series. Unfortunately after the 36 episodes, both of the characters Rangga and Tristan is gone for good. Rangga died due to an accident, while Tristan had to study abroad. Episode 37 and above, have been following it, but it seems the storyline have change despite both Laura and Opie is still maintain. There are new characters. Overall, it is a fun drama to watch.

Heartbreak Hotel:
Three more days to go people and yes the day that the King of Rock n Roll has left the building (pass away). Confession, yes am a huge Elvis fan. Today, still can't find another entertainer like him of course you have Michael Jackson, but again Elvis started the ball rolling and from there pop music start kicking all over. Elvis started it all and not that he is an originator of rock music, but he opened all the doors for many legends after him i.e. The Beatles, Led Zeppellin, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and countless number of performers. Personally, listening to an Elvis track really started up my day no matter how old the music sounds, but man when you hear the King started to sing that is it, it is hunka hunka burning love all the way! Thankyouverymuch!

Hitting August very soon.....
Dear Folks,
'Back to life, back to reality' and yes isn't that song is very familiar from a very popular RnB band in the early 90s, Soul II Soul.
World Cup 2010:
Amazingly, the world is moving fast and the world cup has just ended and Spain is celebrating their very first trophy. Congrats to them. I was going for Holland, but again both teams are undeniably the best but it is just that Spain managed to pull it through all the way.
Subsidies gradually reduce:
Surprisingly, but expected the government with the first move which is a slight increase in the following items;
sugar..... up 5 sen
fuel.......RON 95.....up 5 sen
RON 97......up 5 sen
diesel.......................up 5 sen
LPG.........................up 10 sen
Personally, the increase was a surprise, but expected and hope this will be the most minimum from the government. The burden will surely fell on the normal average folks. What is 'dangerous' is that with the increase the traders, suppliers, retailers would take the opportunity by increasing the price and rates and may affect the buying power of the consumers. It will be good that the Ministry of Domestic trade and Consumers to monitor and ensure that these so called traders would not cause much financial harm to the average consumers otherwise it has already proven in the past how determine they will act and manipulate in the name of price increase.
About the increase of sugar price, surely teh tarik and other beverages price-wise will go up. Good grief! Well one good aspect is this is the best time to reduce the dependency on sugar. Go something healthy like honey! Yes, use honey as alternative to sugar. Or go for organic sugar which is free from chemical or other artifical element.
As for fuel, well just have to be a good driver, don't speed. That is one of the ways to counter or face the price increase in fuel. We need to adjust our life in a way so that the monthly budget won't exceed as much. Plan our trip or journey if one needs to go from one place to another or vice-versa.
One thing for sure we are lucky to live in Malaysia because despite the reduction in subsidies by the government, but they are still maintaining some and let us hope that it will stay that way. No doubt in the future subsidization may go away, but for now any removal should handled in a subtly or gentle manner. Remember the rakyat of today is different and more demanding and intelligent. Beware!
Ramadan countdown....
Well pending for sighting of the new moon which would mark the holy month of Ramadan in the Islamic Calendar, tentatively it is 11 August. Are you ready for it? One thing for sure departmental stores and malls will be having their monthly sale so that is the best time to get one a new baju melayu and yes for my wife baju kurung and kiddo baju melayu and ka-ching, ka-ching all the way.

Nuclear Power in Malaysia....Oh My....!
Hey Folks,
Back to the blog again. It is the 3rd of July and darn we are on the roll like the thundering of the wild, wild, west some say!
Lately, there was a talk or proposal put forth by the government and TNB (National Electricity Agency of Malaysia) about setting up a nuclear power plant as an alternative for the future requirement of power in this country.
It is still early, but the pros and cons have already been heated up in the media and not to mention was one of the hot topics of one of the radio talk shows in the country, 'Kerusi Panas (Hot Seat)' by Radio 24 certainly got people to air it out.
Frankly, one thing for sure emotions and rhetorics must not be the order or sentiment of the day. Before anything can proceed, the Government and TNB must educate and create an awareness about the why is nuclear power plant is relevant for Malaysia especially talking about the 21st century and the uncertain future.
No doubt that now and tomorrow our natural resources and not to mention our dependency on coal and fuel from other countries will be limited or depleted eventually, so this is just one of the proposal on the table that is nuclear energy.
Personally, it is best and healthy for everbody to air out their support and differences over this hot topic, but ensure that we cover all 'bases' before any decision to move with nuclear energy is push forward. Am not an anti-progress or anti-nuclear dude, but just want to be sure that the Government, TNB, and other important stakeholders including the NGOs and the rakyat deserve to get the best or truth on importance of nuclear energy. As a start, let us learn from the advance countries in the world about how they operate nuclear energy.
Surely at the back of everybody's minds is the Chernobyl and Long Island tragedy which until today still hit and haunt some of us. No doubt it was one of the biggest catastrophe ever faced by mankind especially with one of the the worst 'cover up' by the former communist government of once upon a time Soviet Union (now democratic Russia) especially the Chernobyl tragedy.
Whatever it is let us have an open mind and listen from both sides and work together to reach the best and most suitable way that will not only benefit us, but our children, grandchildren, and the next generation to come.
World Cup:
Holland beat Brazil, not surprised because I knew they may beat the Brazilians. This year's World Cup had a lot of surprises; especially the early exit of France and Italy and later England.
Wait n see, can't wait for the semis and finals...

Can't wait for July...
Hey Folks,
BAck to the world of blog!
New Aussie PM:
Talk about turn of events; Australia has a new PM and she is a lady. What an achievement. Women Power still going strong.
French is out:
What a crying shame, the former World Cup Champ is out of this year's world cup. Obviously, with the internal bickering it was already doom for them to be out. When u have a team that is not united anymore, forget playing football. They need total revamp.
Reduction of subsidies?
Several weeks ago, the government were considering steps in reducing the subsidies in order to control the country's deficit. Well, we do understand that if things are not change for the better, the country can come into lots of problem economically and financially. However, any reductions must be made very gradually or subtle manner in view of the average Malaysian who really earn enought just to feed his or her family or just himself. Not to say we need to be spoon fed, but when you say reduction of things like subsidies; fear and anxiety start to come in...

the week it was...
Hey Folks,
BAck to the world of blogs and yes it is the second week of June.
the Gaza episode:
Last week was really a dramatic times for Malaysia. Malaysians and other international citizens were involved in the Gaza flotilla and were caught by the Isrealis commandos. The objective of the flotilla was purely simple; to deliver food, clothing, and medicine to the Palestinians in Gaza. Praise to Allah, that after one of the most tense and dramatic moments, all Malaysians were released.
One thing for sure, what the world witnessed is the Isreali Government act of arrogance and self denial. As expected the USA was silent and didn't really demonstrate much firmness in this whole event against Isreal government. It seems that the USA closed one eye and just simply let this whole event goes by. President Obama should have taken a big step in order to gain confidence of all the Muslim countries by interefering and show that the US as the sole world power can control Isreal and not the other way around as witnessed by the World. Unfortunately, Obama was buzy with the Gulf of Louisiana oil leak. Perception says Isreal is the master and rest of the world is just an observer or servent and nobody can intrude or even advise them of anything.
Malaysia or any other countries be it Muslim or not has been a strong supporter of the Palestinian cause and it is really got nothing to do with religon nor race. It comes to the universal principle of one's right to form a sovereign and independent country which is an independent Palestine. If the USA or any major Western Countries goes preaching democracy, then why is Palestine is purposely left out? One can punish countries like Myanmar or Zimbabwe or North Korea, but look at Isreal. Isreal says they preach democracy, but really at what expense. The United Nation can't do much except making statements and verbal objections and Isreal government just don't care.
As mentioned by former PM, Tun Dr Mahathir, as long as the fundamental root cause which is the Palestinian issue remain unsolved, nothing really change for the better and this clearly showcase what we see in Afgahnistan, Iraq, Iran, West Bank, Gaza and other trouble or unstabled parts of the world.
At this very moment, the clock continue to tick every seconds and minutes, and the cry, the wailing, and suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank continues till this very day. Our prayers goes out to them for their longevity in strength and survival in this unfriendly 'jungle'.

At this very moment, the clock continue to tick every seconds and minutes, and the cry, the wailing, and suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank continues till this very day. Our prayers goes out to them for their longevity in strength and survival in this unfriendly 'jungle'.

hooray june is coming!
Hey Folks,
BAck to the world of blog, yes the window for one's mind to express and say whatever he or she wants to put in simple words or maybe complicated as long as the message is across the net.
Wesak Day:
Yes, because of the diverse background and culture, Malaysia is celebrating Wesak Day and it is a public holiday tomorrow 28th May 2010. Wesak Day is special especially if one is a follower of Buddhism. It is the birthday of Gautama Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. Happy Wesak Day to all Malaysians who is celebrating this most auspicious moment.
Tanjung Tuan (Cape Rachado):
Have you ever get the chance to go up to the famous lighthouse of Tanjung Tuan or its historical name is Cape Rachado. It was built by the Portuguese back in the colonial days when they were the major European power in the region and established Melaka as their important colony.

Anyway, it took about 30 to 45 minutes to climb up the hill (which is actually part of a cape). Once you reach to the top of the Tanjung Tuan, you could see the beautiful sea of the 'Blue Lagoon' or Teluk Kemang. Unfortunately, the authorities locked the gate to the lighthouse, but one can still hang around and witness the beauty of the Straits of Melaka and its the coastal areas.
After that you can go down the hill and discover the unspoilt beach on the otherside of the Tanjung Tuan. It is about a 30 minute walk down the hill. The beach is really unspoilt and definitely a place to breath and relax and mesmerize the tranquility and beauty of mother nature. The best part is climbing up the steps from the beach to the top of the hill (where the lighthouse is located) and going down the hill and back to the original starting point and that took about 35 to 45 minutes. Really a good workout for me and wife and kiddo!

World Cup 2010:
Yes it is coming folks. Get ready for that late night or slumber party mode. If one is into football or soccer, one of the greatest sports in the world and yet again it will be the focused of 2010.
Which country will win? Too early to say.
Thomas Cup:
As expected, Malaysia lost in the semis. It seems that despite the homefield advantage and playing in front of the countrymen, darn it we lose the damn game! Pardon my French!
Like they say, life is bittersweet in certain ways.

Come what May
Hey Folks,
May alread rolling and feeling like the end of 2010...! Goodness gracious!
By elections:
BN won the Hulu Selangor. So despite the win, it was not really a huge one consider the drop in the Chinese votes. Sibu, this weekend, tough call despite Pakatan (DAP) is the underdog.
UK New Government:
Congrats' to the new UK PM that is David Cameron. What is interesting is that it is a coalition government between the Conservative Party and Liberal Democrats since the Tories couldn't get the much needed majority in the House of Commons. It is going to be an interesting marriage between the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats. In everybody's mind is will the UK be the usual 'yes' to the US or this time they will stand up to them. Wait n See as usual.
Thomas Cup:
Malaysia as a host and finally in the semis, meeting China. Tough, tough game.

Calling May!
Hey Folks,
Back again to the wonderful and everlasting blog.
Yup we are pretty close to the middle of June and 2010 is flying fast no bumps just fast.
Hulu Selangor:
BN have won the by-Election. Well despite the victory again there is still lost of stuff that the ordinary folks are still monitoring on the performance of the government and its promises. The Opposition, despite the loss it is still not the end. Sibu by election is coming very soon. Another battle is about to begin.
Umbrella!
Yes! I do carry an umbrella to work with me everyday. What is odd for a guy like me to have an umbrella to work. Think about it.

Ash Cloud!!
Hi Folks,
Yup, back to the blog.
Couple of days ago the world was shock over the ash cloud situation as result of a volcanic eruption in Iceland which affected almost the whole of Europe. Many flights were cancelled and with stranded passengers stuck at airports hoping for a flight out.
Now the situation has improved somewhat and flights are beginning to resume, but the headache is still not over. Beside rescheduling the flights for the stranded passengers, but the world economy is affected and losses are predicted to be in the millions or even in the billions especially airlines, transportation companies, and many more.
With this turn of event, it sort of reminded me about the scene from the movie "2012" when the ash cloud was 'attacking' Las Vegas, but the difference is that the ash cloud in this movie is deadly and kill anyone in sight.
Luckily today the ash cloud that we saw on the news didn't happened like in "2012", but what if it really do happen in the future? Scary thot one may think or ponder. Imagine a volcanic eruption of major proportion happening at any parts of the world and releasing a deadly ash cloud to any region or country on earth and leading to a major mayhem globally!
Well we can pray that it will not happen, but of course effort or some sort of discussion must be held to discuss if the same phenomena may happen again....
Calling all World Leaders, think about it and come out with a global plan to ensure that humanity still prevails and that includes the economy.
Hulu Selangor:
The climax is getting hotter and now that it is one on one; BN vs PKR (Pakatan Rakyat). Who will win? Wait till this Sunday and we will know. One thing for sure, if BN wins then PM Najib's campaign of "1 Malaysia" is warming up and gaining acceptance from the masses. If BN lose, then still need to do more soul searching. As for PKR, it all about defending the parlimentary seat and nothing else.

April!
Hey Folks,
It is April, we are moving at a speed of light for 2010.
Najib as PM:
Yup, 3rd April was PM Dato Seri Najib Tun Razak 1 year anniversary as the 6th PM of Malaysia. So far he has been pretty balance. He didn't turn out to be a total 'Mahathirism' as what critic predicted. He maintained his usual self.
He launched the '1Malaysia...People First, Performance Now' which is really pinnacle for the country to move forward into the future and in line with the vision 2020. He really mean business when it comes to KPIs and performance based for all the ministries including ministers. It is all about accountability with a capital 'A'!
As a rakyat, one thing for sure implementation, commitment, and consistency is important no matter how the blue print may look like.
One must admire his guts to walk or 'turun padang' and have little moments with the rakyat which actually is really special. Just hope that our 6th PM will continue the 'turun padang' and not ending it in any way in the future.
The rakyat today is not the rakyat yesterday, we are informed citizen who have vast access to information thanks to the internet. The last General Election (in 2008) was a clear example on how the rakyat can estimate or decide or justify to whom the votes should go for.
The up-coming by election in Hulu Selangor is surely the one to wait and this will surely reflect as to whether Dato Seri Najib premiership is on a roll or not. We shall wait n see.
Washington Redskins:
Big news, my favorite NFL team has acquired (via trade) Donovan McNabb from Philly Eagles and this is CERTAINLY a major major move by the Skins! That clearly shows how serious and how fast the Skins need to win the Superbowl badly. They surely need to beef up the offensive line and further improve the defensive line as well. If you are into American Football, welcome to the NFL (National Football League).
Throwing babies!
It has been appearing numerous times on the news and print media of this unfortunate state of situation that makes one want to cry and be angry. Unmarried couple or single mother throwing their newly born baby.
Something needs to be done quickly. Can't push the blame to the unmarried couple or mother all the way. There needs to be a serious on-going effort or active involvement or awareness to get the teenagers and young adults to know how precious life is and the aftermath if one gets pregnant 'unintentionally'. This is not the first time it happened in the world today.
Like in the USA, it is either abort the unborn fetus or baby or just bring it to the world. In Malaysia, abortion is not an open issue to be discussed in respect to Islam and other religion .
Whatever it is, as a rakyat we must do our part to educate and create awareness especially at secondary or middle school level about this unfortunate phenomena that is occuring almost daily in our country. Let us not blame, it is time to work to prevent this quagmire!

"The Ants go Marching"
Hi Folks,
Long time no hear, ha ha ha typical Malaysian English for sure!
Anyway, in less than 9 days, we will be rolling our carpet for April. Talk about March, flying fast.
Bend It Like Beckham:
On a sad note, we may not see him play the up-coming World Cup in South Africa after an injury. Not a big fan of him, but it is terribly sad not to see him play for England. These days you don't really hear much of David like before, could this mean the beginning of the demise of his football career. Will wait n see.
Parliament in session:
Yes, finally after a break Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Rakyat and this time not to mention, Independents (Bebas) will be squaring off for another interesting, winding, lengthy, debates and arguments and drama and rhetorics! We the rakyat will sit and watch and smile and ponder as usual.
Income tax:
Yup, it is approaching, the deadline that is 30 April 2010. Haven't done it yet, but soon. Hopefully not to the last minute. Kudos to the IRB guys for the improvement that they have embark on and now it is on-line. Very convenient. What is important to the rakyat is easy, seamless, convenient, transparent, and consistency in customer service! Cut the bureacratic red tape, this is not the 70s or 80s or 90s. We are in the 21st Century.
Halal in the news:
It is high time that the halal certification through JAKIM and JAIS is in recognition by the Federal government and also Selangor Government for food products and restaurants.
Yes there have been other halal certification bodies in this country, but are they really genuine or really follow strictly to the condition of Halal?
The sad reality is that there are still food products be it domestic and overseas, having variety of halal certification from many sources. What scary is that food product or restaurant declare themselves as halal, only when a thorough investigation is done by the authorities then it is realized that there are loopholes that compromise the status of halal. More must be done to combat this insensitive menace to general consumers who are taking halal food products or dining at restaurants. Creating the Halal awareness is one thing, but enforcing is also another measure that must be upholded at all times.
Halal is basically good hygiene for everybody!

March already!!!....EarthQuake n Aduan Rakyat
Hi Folks,
It is me and I am back. Darn! February was a pretty slow month for me especially updating the blog. It was certainly a hectic schedule with work n stuff.
Now, here we are on the 2nd day of March and it is still like same things, but just work and nothing else really change.
EarthQuake:
After the massive destruction in Haiti and last weekend it was the South American country of Chile that was on the headlines. Amazingly until today, even the most brilliant scientist or planet Earth expert can't predict the earthquake phenomenon. No doubt we have the equipment and resources to detect earthquake, but you will never know when the next quake will strike.
Here in Malaysia, thankfully we are not in the 'Ring of Fire' or in the major quake belt, but again because of our geographical location and relatively close distance with Indonesia and Philippines, we do have minor tremors.
Personally, I did experience tremor and that was at the office after 5:30p.m. It was weird because you start seeing things around you begin to shake. This was like last year and after watching the news it was confirmed that the tremor affected the Klang Valley.
As a country, we can't simply ignore and take things for granted about earthquake. Currently, the government are taking steps in addressing this but is this really enough? It is good to know that there is special signal to detect Tsunami at our seas and that this was collaboration with all the neighboring countries. There should be special awareness tv ad or infomercial on what to do when an earthquake strikes. It is not about scaring people, it is simply educating and creating an awareness for all of us.
Perhaps we should start train our citizens in preparing for earthquake/tsunami. What should we do at that point of time when the earthquake strikes? Run? Hide? Scream? Of course I am not an earthquake expert or safety expert, but just an average citizen expressiong one's views.
As Malaysians, we should be prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually for possible earthquake or tsunami that may strike our beloved country any time. Let us pray that it may not happen.
Aduan Rakyat:
Bravo! This TV show which was launched sometime back in Jan or Feb 2010 is certainly a top rating. It is a show focusing concerns and complaints by the 'rakyat' on basic infrastructure or resources that doesn't work and putting the local authority into the limelight in order for the action or rectification to take place.
One thing for sure it is not pin pointing finger at anyone, it is simply being accountable to the rakyat and giving the actual answers to the problem.
Basically, this show is not aim to put down any individual, but it give the authorities a wake up call so that at the end of the day, the rakyat deserve to know the answers.

February!
Hey Folks,
Wassup? February in the picture, darn it is going pretty fast.
Chinese New Year holiday is coming up. If you plan to go holiday, plan it early with accomodation and stuff.
The beauty of Malaysia, it is a multi-racial country, a melting pot some say! We are just so diverse like USA or UK, but what is amazing is the tolerance and respect of each other's culture and customs is what makes our country, Malaysia, the envy of other countries.

Elvis is Alive!
Hey folks,
Yup, the King of Rock n Roll is alive,...I mean in his music and movies. Last Friday, was his birthday if he was alive.
Confession, I am a huge Elvis fan. Been his big fan since 1992 when I was in the US thanks to my dad who was playing all this documentaries and shows about Elvis. Ironically, during that time time period, the alternative music (Pearl Jam, Nirvana, STP) scene was exploding in the US and around the world and here I was listening to Elvis music!
Been to Graceland before, but just once and hope to come back again.
Personally, Elvis is the King of Rock n Roll because he set the trend, the explosion of popular music. Agree, he is not the creator or architect of rock n roll music, but he basically open up the doors for the pop culture to become what it is today.
Favorite Elvis tracks; Little Sister and Burning Love.
Personally, the best Elvis is when he did the 1968 Comeback Special. That was the ultimate
Elvis in his top form and shape! That time he prove it all he was the Man of all Music.
The King is gone, but may his legacies live on forever!

"I'm like a Bird"
Dear Folks,
The first weekend of January 2010, a truly milestone for all of us!
The 'Herald' case:
The attack against the churches due to the 'Herald' issue should not be condoned. No doubt Malaysia is a country where the official religion is Islam and the majority are Muslims, but the rights of other religion must be respected. Malaysia is known not just for its multiethnic beauty and melting pot, but also tolerance and respect of all religious faith which why we get the envy of many countries including the United States, etc.
Interestingly, the 3 major 'monotheistic' religion; Islam, Christianity, and Judaism, do share the same one god (Allah), but it is just the concept is different. We do share the same prophets with the exception of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. who to Islam is the last and greatest prophet. Hopefully a solution can be achieved and all of us can move on as a Nation.
Washington Redskins:
Yes, they hava new coach, Mike Shanahan is his name. Former head coach of Denver Broncos and experience of winning 2 SuperBowls! Hopefully, he'll turn things around because what matter is winning and getting that SuperBowl trophy back!

On the Fourth day of January....
Hey Folks,
Happy New Year! Welcome 2010. 2009 is history and 2010 is going to be our new mystery!
Today is the first day of school in Malaysia. My kiddo, well he has another 4 years to go before enrolling into primary school. That'll be the day!
My New Year, spend time at the beach. Enjoying the beach sights and sounds during New Year eve. Doing something different for a change.
2009:
As usual, a lot of happenings and stuff. Lost important key personalities such as Michael Jackson, Patrick Swayze, etc. In Malaysia, we did missed many...to name a few, Yasmin Ahmad, Tun Abdul Hamid Omar, etc. We won football in the Sea Games GOLD that is....since 1989 finally! Change of PM from Abdullah Badawi to Najib Tun Razak. We got our first submarine! It was also a year of many by-elections. Yada, yada, yada, yup just like any other year 2009 is full of surprises, events, etc.
Washington Redskins:
Looking forward to the new season and perhaps it could be a new headcoach taking over. They lost their last game of the season to Chargers.
VT HOKIES football:
They won their bowl game. Beat Tennessee. Will wait to see where they are in the USA Today Top 25 and AP Top 25. Hopefully they will be in the top 10.
High Court Ruling on the use of Allah in the Herald:
It was certainly talk of the nation. Shocking for most Muslims in the country. Well, the government better resolve the problem before any possible tension may arise. One thing, the High Court mades its ruling so have to honour that, but the judiciary process allows room for appeal. So that is not the end of the saga since the Ministry of Home Affairs and PM's Department is going to appeal and PM Najib will be meeting with Yang Dipertuan Agong over this issue.
Personally, I have studied Christianity and come into dialogue with Christians when I was in the US especially discussing and engaging the difference between Islam and Christianity. What really puzzle me is that the Christians (in the US) never mentioned of 'Allah' in the Bible, Gospel, Psalm, New Testament, Book of Jericho, etc. The Christians will always refer to God or Lord, beside the Son of God and Holy Spirit based from my observation and understanding. In Malaysia, where the majority of Malaysians are Muslims and the official religion is Islam, it is best that this matter shouldn't be highlighted or brought into court in the first place. Like they say, leave it alone or leave it as it is. Now it is already in the headlines, and not just in Malaysia alone, but the whole world is watching to see what'll happen next.
